DeVry Greenhouses is looking for an Assistant Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations and strengthen financial reporting and internal controls. In this role, you’ll own the month-end close, oversee core accounting functions, and provide reliable financial insights that support business decisions. Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements and reporting packages
Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Bookkeeping functions, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and integrity across the P&L, Balance Sheet, and general ledger
Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and act as the primary escalation point for accounting-related issues
Provide day-to-day leadership to the accounting team, including workload management, performance, and development
Own inventory valuation and cost accounting processes, including standard costing, variance analysis (labour, overhead), and collaboration with Operations on cost tracking
Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
Identify and implement process improvements across workflows, reporting, internal controls, and ERP/system usage, including automation and new tools
Ensure compliance with GAAP/ASPE, government filings, audits, and external reporting requirements
Oversee cross-border accounting for U.S. operations, including intercompany transactions and regulatory compliance
Support strategic initiatives, cash planning, and broader finance projects as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
MBA or CPA designation
3–7 years of progressive accounting experience
Strong understanding of GAAP, ASPE, financial regulations, and full-cycle accounting
Experience with inventory and cost accounting
Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central preferred)
Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling capability
Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
Ability to balance detail-oriented accounting work with higher-level financial analysis
Proven track record of achieving operational excellence and continuously improving processes
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Annual salary range: $85k-105k per year, depending on experience and education
